That shoe shop had very good shoes in it. Good shoes, for Minus 30 degree environments are not easy to find. They need to be warm, for sure, but also ventilated somehow because otherwise your feet sweat and then the sweat freezes...and when you stop walking, your toes fall off. I bought a good pair of those shoes, fairly cheaply, and they are still good now...and you don't slip when walking on ice...brilliant design. Good China leather and structure...with nearby Russian Siberian shoe making experience and understanding. Love has its price. Shoes are fine if you keep walking, but if you are transfixed by love and stop to hug and kiss in the street, there is some pain involved pretty quickly. It's best to leave the pain of love to the young, whenever possible. There's pain enough at the other end of it all, anyway, for those who have done their walking and kissing. Everything in its right measure, and joy to boot!

I took this pic in the early morning in Shen Yang City, a small provincial Chinese city of only 9 million souls, in the North East of China, at about minus 30 degrees celsius. I was across the snowy street when I took the picture. The distant sun rising just for them.
