John Fitzpatrick. About New China, the Koreas, Myanmar, Thailand, and also about Japanese and Chinese writers and poets. The main emphasis is on North Asia and the political tectonics of this very important, powerful, and many-peopled area.

Fascinating Shopping. I went to local supermarket...1.45 minutes overland journey (Including 8 speed-humps) via rugged Nissan Navara 4X4 dual cab ute...(that ute can go anywhere!) and sought, yet could find no, brussel sprouts. In desperation I searched the frozen section, yet still , no brussel sprouts...so, naturally, i was all geared up to attack the fascist check-out person with my complaints when I noticed that the check out person and 2 indigenous customers were in a complex and prolonged argument involving a plethora of Security People regarding the self-weighing of potatoes...through the self-check out. I thought, well, my concerns can wait. My concerns pale into insignificance in comparison. Eventually, I went through the check-out and, interestingly, somehow ended up with my paid-for goods + a free roast chicken! Life is amazing. Wisdom, Patience and Tolerance ...they pay off.
