they kill the flame
John Fitzpatrick. About New China, the Koreas, Myanmar, Thailand, and also about Japanese and Chinese writers and poets. The main emphasis is on North Asia and the political tectonics of this very important, powerful, and many-peopled area.

Home from work. A good shift this evening. Nice people. Not God's Chosen People, who are out wholesale killing children again, all night in Gaza...but just decent beings to work with, to do some minor good with, way over here. Then I come home, watch TV, have some coffee, and maybe a biscuit. I don't have to align myself with the horrible child-murderers to do that. I must tell you that I am not happy with God's Chosen People at all. That's what they call themselves. I have other names for them. Nice to be home.
