John Fitzpatrick. About New China, the Koreas, Myanmar, Thailand, and also about Japanese and Chinese writers and poets. The main emphasis is on North Asia and the political tectonics of this very important, powerful, and many-peopled area.

it's somewhat like the whole society is geared into some 'spin cycle' to extract money from people for just being normal people...and that is the whole ethic...dieting, exercise, psychology, veganism, even meditation, ...its all just 'pay me and I will help you not to be normal'...but you will have to come back, every week, to make sure 'normal' doesn't take hold again...
in my twenties and thirties I was a normally looking gaunt and hungry young man and this appealed to a cohort of women, and that was great. At the same time, that was normal.I didn't have to try to look gaunt and hungry. I didn't think I could live through my forties and fifties pretending to be 20 so I didn't, and so I grew in weight, and it suits me to be 6ft tall and 100 kilos. I don't like it, I don't dislike it, but I am not about to somehow think that I am doing anything wrong in this matter. I don't exercise much because I don't need to.Why would you do that if you don't need to? What did you miss out on? Whatever you missed out on in the past, darlin, its not here now. Doesn't any one teach kids reality any more?

poem for My Dad
Poem for My Dad
And as for Him
He was light and he was shade
And in some image we were made
And then we set upon
Our own parade
People came and people went
And in it all
The life was spent
In general goodness all abide
and indeed I miss him
by my side.
