American Sniper: Movie Review

The usual chowder. Some American kid who was good at shooting living things, saw the twin towers collapse due to the work of some bad Saudi Arabians, and so he took up his gun and had a career of mistakenly killing Iraqis very well. Hard to say much else about it apart from it being something to eat Maltesers by. A true story. An American classic. About as real as Starship Troopers, with the Bad Iraqis instead of the Giant Insects etc. Pure rubbish. 1/10.
The Spongebob Squarepants movie is a whole lot better.

Noting Team Australia and the Great Omission

Noting a large interview with Tony Abbott yesterday...lots of important reporters, lots of topics where he had made errors of judgment etc...and yet no mention at all of Australia participating in the current bombing of Iraqis in Iraq. No question regarding the costs, the length of time of the commitment, the rationale for continuation, no enquiry as to how this affects us in terms of national security, the rise of the threat risk...nothing. This must be Team Australia: the denial of narrative...the removal of enquiry.

That's the government...and then, on the other side of the house in total agreement, is Bandaid-Bill Shorten...

ruckus runs

"we did ruckus runs in at sunset in kandihar and fallujah. we'd go in at sunset to coordinates in a town and take the house with stun grenades. we'd only kill males of military age, 12 up, if they looked dodgy, then we'd drag the family into the street and blow the house. then we'd go away and....um,  didnt lie on the floor straight away, if the boys didnt lie down straight away,  and then we went out in to that darkness and waited. pretty soon people would come to help dressed as paramedics or just neighbours and our snipers would take them out and every now and then a few of the people who came to help the family were taliban or sunni, depending upon the cultures, places, so they were high grade targets; and it taught the family and the town who they should depend on.
it was spooky and so ice was good to wind you up to start and heroin was good to get you down to sleep. you could get the stuff from mates or from the enemy. it just flows.
then if we were lucky on the way home from the tour we'd have a week to blow pussy and smack in bangkok and just hang out. i love my mates and trusted them. that's what i learned and miss. we all had to trust each other to get through.

Most of Kevin Rudd's great friends inChina, in the government and in business empires, those high, powerful and influential folk, are in prison now in this second year of President Xi's pogrom on corruption
