John Fitzpatrick. About New China, the Koreas, Myanmar, Thailand, and also about Japanese and Chinese writers and poets. The main emphasis is on North Asia and the political tectonics of this very important, powerful, and many-peopled area.

Simon & Garfunkel : El Condor Pasa (1970)
I'd rather be a sparrow than a snail.
Yes I would,
If I could,
I surely would.
I'd rather be a hammer than a nail.
Yes I would,
If I only could,
I surely would.
CHORUS
Away, I'd rather sail away
Like a swan that's here and gone
A man gets tied up to the ground
He gives the world
Its saddest sound,
Its saddest sound.
I'd rather be a forest than a street.
Yes I would.
If I could,
I surely woud.
I'd rather feel the earth beneath my feet,
Yes I would.
If I only could,
I surely would.
Year of the Watersnake 2013
This is a big year for me, and for other Water Snake people...and other Snake folk in general as well. It is a year of change and shock and awe, and also for growth and wonder and meaning... a year of 'shedding the old skin', which can be somewhat painful at times, for sure, I feel that deeply.
Time to light a little incense stick or two
AS for being an Atheist, well, yes....
Yes...I am......but I still really like the China Gods, and the Thai King as God(King of Kings, The Great King Rama IX, the King above Buddha, above Mo0hammed, above Yahweh and Jesus, to name just a few...I do love the Thai King, Rama IX, the all Powerful, the All Good), and, um, I love the yellow light from the candles and the pungence of coconut incense in the air... still a romantic in love with God...and what does God, King Rama IX do except change, manifest, correlate life, juxtapose, counterpoint...etc etc...so, yes, still an atheist, and a happy one, but still in love with it all...sigh...smile...blink...ah, life, so wonderful...Life is full of paradox, and indeed of contradictions, and so am I, and I'm happy to be me.
