John Fitzpatrick. About New China, the Koreas, Myanmar, Thailand, and also about Japanese and Chinese writers and poets. The main emphasis is on North Asia and the political tectonics of this very important, powerful, and many-peopled area.

i dont know what a functional or dysfunctional family is or is not, but my family is one of very different drives, visions, beliefs, ambitions and views and values and cultures and races and motivations, and there is sufficient respect for each other , and a sense of abiding dignity, even though we can all be bizarrely driven, in each other's terms, from time to time...but As we go along... we are less driven, and just drive ourselves...and we can drive ourselves home...because somehow We know where and what home is.

The disturbing thing for me, with actions of the US lately is that they quickly moved away from Syria and the Middle East where nothing good or bad can ever happen, nothing can be won or lost, and there can be no winner...(if peace in the Middle East was ever important, it would have been achieved long before now)...simply because the Middle East doesn't have the important human density of people, weaponry, trade, culture or hatred as North Asia does..and the USA has moved to stuff up North Asia where everything has the massive density of meaning, wealth, weapons, the future etc, and potential real damage. Why do that? Who in their right mind would do that? The only place on Earth where it is very important not to stoke the potential fires of war, and to roll in with nuclear weapons. What kind of knuckle dragging neanderthal prehistoric fuck wits are they? Desperate ones, I would suggest.
