John Fitzpatrick. About New China, the Koreas, Myanmar, Thailand, and also about Japanese and Chinese writers and poets. The main emphasis is on North Asia and the political tectonics of this very important, powerful, and many-peopled area.

Well, we are off to Townsville 17th November to collect daughter DJ Wawa's goods and chattels, and DJWAWA herself, for the University holiday. A five hour drive by Nissan Navara Dual Cab Ute (The Diamond Vehicle). I must get the Grand Array of LED light-bar spotlights reconnected for the journey ... through the dangerous malevolent kangaroo infested topography betwixt here and there. I have great concerns about the number of Koran reading devotee radicalised Syrian marsupials out there.
I can kind of understand Bob Dylan's reticence in regard to the Nobel Prize. He was proud to receive the US President's medal from Mr Obama, for sure, because Bob is quintessentially, an American with a profound understanding of its traditions. Whether he would have accepted it from any other US President is a moot point. But as for the Nobel Prize...a world renowned yet European Award, an award he never asked for or sought...he would put the letter at the back of the other correspondence I would think.
Love and its form of Grief is profoundly powerful. I recall how there wasn't any emotion for a war in Iraq at all before 9/11. The Grief reaction of the Americans was very powerful, even though Iraq had nothing to do with it at all. I feel the same kind of Grief reaction will happen in the Kingdom of Thailand now that King Rama IX is dead. I hope it doesn't lead to a bloody and horrible destabilising time for Thailand and all of SE Asia, but I'm sure it will.
We live in revolutionary times. I have just moved my dark faded green worn out 2008 King Gee work shorts/cargo pants to the back of the wardrobe for emergency fishing purposes, and have put on the Hard Yakka khaki cargo shorts (with the kevlar pockets in case I land roughly on Jupiter) I bought last year. I'm still not sure about the enduring nature of the Hard Yakkas but we will see, by hook or by crook, come hell and high water, come 2022.
