..........................................
This will be a great final of the European Club games with the final between the 2 clubs from Madrid city who have beaten everyone in Europe, including the dazzling Barcelona, to finally play out for the title. It will be watched all over the planet as many of the players from both (+Barcelona's best) will be representing Spain in the World Cup in Brazil next month...and it is good to know how 'the best' are playing before you have to play them.
As the Spanish clubs have dominated European soccer, and won the World Cup last time, it is expected that the Spanish national team will dominate the World Cup.
Most countries, when planning for their World Cup games have dropped their older more famous players so as to field younger, fitter players hoping that this way they can wear-out and out run the Spanish team...who are indeed the most highly skilled and organised in terms of collective attack, but also quite an old team in terms of their great players' ages and ground-speed.
The UEFA Cup Final on Sunday morning will be very interesting and does present, for the people who do have to play the Spanish, including Australia, very early on in the World Cup, on the 23rd June, exactly who we are up against and who we need to come to terms with to progress beyond the Group B 'gauntlet' stage. Australia is in the hardest group...playing Spain, Netherlands and Chile to progress. I think we can draw with Netherlands as we always use their best coaches.
